AI Has Killed Visual VerificationâProof of Documentation Will Never Be the Same đ
Seeing is no longer believing đľ
Remember the good ol days when you could snap a picture of a receipt to get a refund or take a picture of an id to prove identity? Those days are over.
Artificial intelligence has become so advanced it can generate photo realistic proofs of documentation. I have included many examples of fraud which can be perpetuated through the use of ai.
Several Airlines accept a screenshot as proof of flight cancellation.
In competitive real estate markets, some landlords will accept a screenshot showing a rental payment history.
This kind of fraud can get a candidate through early stages of interviews or even hired completely should the hiring manager not actually contact the school.
Many employers and/or insurance companies require medical documentation for proof of claims or a leave of absence. Rarely does an employer or insurance company require follow up proof if the submitted photograph passes the initial visual verification.
Need to rent a car, show the police proof of insurance, or receive other services, checking the actual database during most routine situations rarely occurs.
Employment eligibility and housing applications can now be 1 step easier for fraudsters thanks to ai.
Why wait until the end of your contract to cancel your membership when you can send an ai generated proof of cancellation to the credit card company telling them to stop authorizing payments
What does all of this mean?
It means âsending a photo as proofâ is a dead validation method.
Multifactor verification is critical.
Digital verification must replace visual inspection. Database validation should happen for all documentation not just sketchy screenshots.
The vision for Mass Address is real time, consent-based, human identification. You cannot manipulate what you cannot change.
